Writing, writing, and more writing.....

Writing, writing and more writing is exactly what I need to do. I can feel the accusing eyes of my characters, and sense the pursing of lips and hands on hips for my neglect of them this summer.
On the other hand, everyone needs a break. Plus, I have to get away from my laptop occasionally, or how am I going to get new ideas? Re-fuel my creativity tank?
It's not as if I have been doing nothing, and there has been lots of writing related activities going on behind the scenes.
This blog post is the very first one written on my BRAND NEW WEBSITE!! Yay!!
I love it! And, I did none of the hard work needed to make this beautiful site a reality. After the author's convention I attended in London, I was more convinced that before, that I needed to focus on the writing, and leave the website stuff to a professional. And I couldn't be more excited with the result. Stu Grant and his team at Digital Authors Toolkit have done a fantastic job of building a functional, useful and beautiful website to showcase and sell my books. They used the creativity of my branding and book cover designer, V H Nicholson, and I believe the 'feel' of this website exactly represents the style of my writing. My stories echo the great tradition of mystery writers and I hope all readers who visit, will know exactly what they are getting when they purchase one of my novels.
And to the novels! Two.....yes, TWO brand new novels are set to release in a week or so.
Murder at the Marina, the first in my cozy "Wharf Rat" series, soft -launched with a successfully funded Kickstarter earlier this year. Launch date on Amazon is 5th September. You can Pre-order with the special launch price of 99p/c here. The price won't last long.
A Secret War is another first novel in a series. The Carroll and Delaney Series is set in 1940s London, and was immensely enjoyable to research and write. Again, you can pre-order before the launch date of 12th September here.
As the website evolves, all my books will be on sale as hardback and paperback editions for those readers who love a new-book smell (yes, it is a thing).
While Stu et al were toiling away at my new website, I was in the Yukon for two weeks, officially babysitting my two small grandchildren. Writing is hard. Those two weeks were harder. But joyful. I so wish that I could grab their infinite imagination and belief that everything is possible, and immediately channel it into my writing.
Also, the Yukon in the summer is spectacular. Until this year I have only seen it in the winter, covered in snow. I recommend visiting at both times, but if you like being outside, then summer is better.
So, I've put if off long enough. Back to the writing. Until next Friday, have a wonderful week.
Jackie xx
